Snapping aligns vertices or line segments of features with vertices or line segments of other features. When digitizing polygons or polylines, hold the ALT or CTRL key to snap the cursor to the nearest vertex on the nearest polyline or polygon. For more control with snapping parameters, use Tools | Project Settings | Tolerance Settings.
